Introduction:

There are objects orbiting our Sun that occasionally cross the Earth's orbit. They are sometimes called "EOCs", or Earth-Orbit Crossers. It is possible that someday, the moment they cross the Earth's orbit will be the same moment that the Earth is at that part of its orbit. That could be a bad day!

Activity:

  • A NASA web site shows objects (asteroids and comets) that orbit the Sun near the Earth. These are the objects that could possibly intersect the Earth's orbit, with disastrous consequences! Click on the image below to see a list of these objects.
